Lisa Leslie was born to Walter Leslie, a basketball player, and Christine Lauren Leslie, a businesswoman. She was raised with three siblings by her mother, after their father abandoned them. Although in a middle school Lisa was the highest in her class – she started playing basketball when she entered a middle high, after which she attended Morningside High School in Inglewood, California. There, she excelled in basketball, and became one of the top players in the country, as she led the team to the California State Championship.
