He is a rock and pop music singer, who has incorporated styles and genres which vary from hard rock to traditional pop music, and most recently ballads. Warmth, although characteristically with a rough and hoarse voice and unique stage personality, has made him one of the most popular singers of the second half of the 20th century and up to the present. Among many awards, Rod Stewart is an inductee into the US Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 1994, and as a member of The Faces in 2012, and into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. He has been accumulating his net worth being active in the music industry since 1961.

Rod and his family were big fans of Al Jolson who inspired little Rod. At age 11, he decided to form a small band named The Kool Kats. Stewart began his professional career in the early 1960’s, accompanying the folk singer Wizz Jones on a European tour. In 1963 he joined the rhythm and blues band Jimmy Powell & the Five Dimension, in which he sang and played the harmonica. Over the next years, Stewart passed from band to band, and in 1965 he joined the Steampacket, employed as an opening act for the Rolling Stones and The Walker Brothers. When the group broke up in 1967, he joined the Jeff Beck Group. Although the group existed only three years and recorded just two albums, it gained tremendous popularity. After parting with Beck, Stewart, along with Ronnie Wood joined The Faces. All the above experiences contributed solidly to the increase in Rod’s net worth.

Still singing in a group, Stewart also began his solo career. His first album, “An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down” (1969) turned out to be unsuccessful. The second, “Gasoline Alley” (1970) was also undetected. Not until his third album, “Every Picture Tells a Story” (1971) became a huge hit and was certified platinum in USA, did Rod become noticed in his own right.

For the last 40 years, Rod has never been far from the top of the charts, and has maintained his popularity as a solo singer, in collaboration with many others in the industry, and as a general celebrity. He has released 25 more studio albums which have been successful on both sides of Atlantic and around the world, selling more than 100 million, and invariably reaching high positions in the charts, as have many single releases, resulting in him being rated by Billboard as the 17th most successful artist in pop music history, and both Q and Rolling Stone Magazines ranking him well inside the top 100 singers of all time.

Among numerous awards, Rod Stewart is the recipient of a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, Diamond Award from the World Music Awards, Legend Award from the World Music Awards, Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, “Stardust … The Great American Songbook Volume III” (2004), ASCAP Founders Award and many others which have also increased the overall size of Rod Stewart net worth. Of particular significance was him being rewarded with a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II  in 2007 for his contribution to music.

Finally, in the personal life of the legendary singer, he is known for relationships with a number of women, usually models and actresses. He dated Susannah Boffey(1963–1964) with whom he had his first child. He then dated the models Jennie Rylance (1965–1967) and Dee Harrington (1971–1975) as well as the actress Britt Ekland (975–1977). He was married to the actress Alana Hamilton from 1979 to 1984 with whom he has two children, then dated model Kelly Emberg (1983–1990) and they had a child together. Rod was married a second time to model Rachel Hunter(1990–2006) and has two children with her. Since 2007 he has been married to the model Penny Lancaster, – they have two children, too. On the whole, Rod has fathered eight children with five women, one would think a bit of a drain on his net worth, but affordable to date.
