Steve Kerr was born to American academic Malcolm Kerr, and Ann Kerr. He spent most of his childhood in Middle Eastern nations such as Lebanon, attending Cairo American College in Egypt, and the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon. He also attended Palisades High School in Pacific Palisades, California, where he excelled in basketball. He continued playing basketball after being enrolled at the University of Arizona, where he stayed from 1983-1988.
